How to use Marseille Soap

A guide to using Marseille Soap

The many uses for marseille soap... this soap bring a new meaning to the word multi-purpose. The bar is completely vegan, plastic free and will cut down on clutter around your house.

With the marseille soap bar you can say good bye to plastic bottles of laundry detergent, soap, surface cleaners, stain removers, toilet cleaners, dishwashing bars... the Marseille soap bar does it all, and it is completely zero waste. 

In this video guide, Charlie demos how to use the marseille soap bar to:

1. WASH YOUR DISHES
Rub a wet scourer or washing up brush directly onto the soap bar and then onto your dishes to clean. The soap will lather.

2. WASH SURFACES
Rub a wet cloth/scrubbies onto the soap bar and then onto a surface. You can also make a cleaning spray with soap shavings.

3. WASH LAUNDRY
Grate your soap bar and melt 1 cup of shavings into 2 litres of hot water on the stove, let it cool down and optionally add 1/4 cup baking soda (water softener) and 1/4 cup white wine vinegar (fabric softener). Use as a liquid detergent.

4. WASH WOOL/LEATHER
Mix some marseille soap shaving with hot water and wash wool and leather by hand - the marseille soap is known for it's effectiveness with woollen clothes.

5. TO REMOVE CHLORINE SMELL
Soak your swimming costume in with diluted marseille shavings and hot water overnight. Wash out as normal.

6. REMOVE STAINS
Rub the soap directly onto the soiled item and then wash as normal - this can even be used on carpets and sofas.

7. CLEAN TOILETS
Melt some shavings in hot water and tip down the loo, scrub as normal. The soap will lather.

8. CLEAN YOURSELF
You can even use the marseille soap directly on your skin when in the shower or put some shaving in the bath when you are bathing. You can even use marseille soap to wash your hair!
